It is a simple, fast, painless procedure, done at the doctor’s office. It consists in introducing the sperm sample chosen and previously qualified at the laboratory, with a fine catheter inside the woman’s uterine cavity. To conduct an IUI, the ovulation needs to be monitored through ultrasound scans during a natural or stimulated cycle.
There are two types of IUI:
Homologous Intrauterine Insemination:
With the couple’s semen. It is done when the sperm count is below the regular limits, when infertility from immunologic origin exists, in cases diagnosed with endometriosis or when it is unexplainable.
Heterologous Intrauterine Insemination:
With the donor’s semen. It is done when the couple’s semen does not have sperm or presents low spermatic quality. In these cases, the sample will be selected from our Sperm Bank. |
